Access groups and portals

Updated on September 13, 2021

This presentation is part of the Portals Overview Self-Study Course.

Transcript

Access groups bind the many aspects of an application.  In addition, they determine which applications and which parts of those applications users can access.
The Portal Rules, defined on the Settings tab of an access group, are a key part of this process.  By referencing one or more portal rules, we can give users access to one or more portals, allowing them to use as much application functionality as appropriate.  For example, we could give users in an access group we define the ability to use both the Developer portal and the WorkManager portal.

Out of the box, Process Commander version 5 provides several standard access groups and associated portals.  There are also deprecated access groups for backward compatibility.
