Adding custom controls to the section palette in Designer Studio

Updated on August 9, 2017

You can add custom controls to the Pega® Platform palettes that display the standard autogenerated controls. Adding custom controls to the palettes provides quick and convenient access to your most commonly used custom controls. Developers can access these custom controls in the Basic palette and the Advanced palette in the section rule. Custom controls are displayed in the palettes in the sections that use design templates and in the sections that use design view.

Adding a custom control to a palette

When you create a custom control, after you complete the fields on the Control tab do the following steps:

  1. Click the HTML tab.
  2. On the HTML tab, select the Show in authoring menus check box.
  3. Select whether to add the custom control to the Basic palette or to the Advanced palette.
  4. In the Control image text field you can enter the icon you want to use or click the Gear icon to select an icon from the available images.

The control label is taken from the short description of the control.

After you save your custom control, open or create a section. Your custom control is displayed in the palette that you selected, along with the icon, below the line between autogenerated and custom controls. Controls in a Pega- ruleset are displayed above the line. You can drag custom controls from the palette and place them in the section.
