Communications Industry Applications - TM Forum alignment

Overview

As a part of Pega’s longstanding association with TM Forum, support for the Business Process Framework (eTOM) and Shared Information and Data Model (SID) have been central to using our communications offering to support our clients’ transformations.

The flexible process definition and execution engine that forms the core of our case management has enabled numerous telecommunications clients to operate processes that are aligned with these standards while containing specific business rules and understanding that support their own differentiators – delivering millions of tailored experiences to their customers. Over recent releases of the Pega Platform, the opportunity to increase agility and speed of delivery has been enhanced with out of the box microjourneys that can be combined with our execution logic and ‘layer cake’ driven reusability to further support our telecommunications clients in defining the kind of E2E journeys that are delivering proven value for all their stakeholders.

As more and more clients are grasping the opportunities of digital transformation, Pega, with its center-out business architecture driven by Process Fabric, increases its alignment with the principles eTOM represents. Our clients are now using the rapid definition of robust, impactful case management flows delivering valuable business execution to change how their businesses go to market quickly. Our clients are proving that the agility they derive from this approach gets them where they need to be faster, more cost effectively, and more reliably. The alternative of onerous, fully defined flows that require unanticipated, large investments of time and resources to deliver the elements of customer focus and operational delivery are no longer acceptable. 

Pega has always recognized the important direction that eTOM and SID provide while maintaining an achievable definition and execution framework that delivers not only the initial transformative platform but goes on to support the needs of our clients as they manage the demand of transformed business as usual.

Pega eTOM process support

Pega Platform supports a broad range of eTOM processes which can be fully modelled in alignment with the eTOM flow (supported by easily configurable client business rules and data) or as variations on the eTOM processes which include client specific steps or stages to address specific value targets.

Pega is committed to maintaining the ability to align with eTOM and as the standards for Open API and ODA continue to develop, these capabilities are on the roadmap for product inclusion.

Utilising Pega's flexible, user-driven process management and execution functionality, flow can be modelled as a Pega process.

Definitions

Supported – a capability that Pega Platform or Pega applications support directly or that can be generally configured to support using Pega’s low code platform.

Supported with configuration – a capability that does not exist in Pega Platform or Pega applications, but is reasonable to configure using Pega’s low code platform.
