Connecting your application to DocuSign

Updated on April 6, 2022

Complete a series of preparatory tasks for incorporating DocuSign into your product.

Tip: For testing purposes or to speed up the development process, you can authenticate your DocuSign eSignature API calls by using basic authentication. To enable basic authentication, instead of performing the following steps, provide your authentication credentials in the pySetEnvelopeCredentials data transform. For more information, see Configuring basic authentication details for DocuSign envelope requests.
Before you begin: In the DocuSign platform, add and configure an app by performing the following actions:
  1. Create a developer account.
  2. Add an app to your developer account.
Note: In the DocuSign platform, an app is a set of parameters for identifying and configuring an integration.
  3. Optionally, create a document template, and then prepopulate it with information that you want to send out for signing.
For more information, see the DocuSign developer documentation.
In your Pega application, install the DocuSign component, and then configure the connection and authentication details:
  1. Installing the DocuSign component

Install the DocuSign component to gain access to the configuration items that your application requires to securely connect to DocuSign and distribute documents for digital signature.

  2. Configuring the DocuSign authentication

Securely call the DocuSign digital signature capabilities through the OAuth 2.0 authentication method that is based on the JSON Web Token (JWT) grant.

  3. Monitoring the DocuSign connection status

Keep track of your access to DocuSign services through the DocuSign connections landing page, which lists the JWT bearer token authentication profiles and their connection status.
