How do I use a Studio automation to search for a drop-down menu value on a web page using all or part of the value as the search criteria?

Updated on January 27, 2017

The following automation searches for and selects a value from a web page drop-down menu using all or part of the value as the search criteria:

Note: The web application used in this example contains a drop-down list labeled Select a Job Category that includes these entries:

  • Real Estate
  • Customer Service
  • Accounting/Finance

The user can search the drop-down menu using a complete drop-down menu value or a partial value, such as Real or Customer or Acc. The automation begins when the user enters the search criteria in a Windows form and clicks a command button to initiate the search.
