Symptom

When an application user logs in to Process Commander V5.1 or V5.2, a Windows Security warning appears mentioning the Visio Flow Editor.

This warning occurs after the End-User option of the OCX_Installer.zip file was used to install ActiveX controls on the user's workstation.

The message is confusing, as end-user do not have Visio installed and do not edit flow rules.

Update: This issue occurs only with V5.1 and V5.2 when ActiveX controls are installed with the the OCX_Installer.zip file.
This issue is corrected in the OCX_Installer.zip file included with V5.3.

Solution

The OCX installation has two options:

Developer install – installs the ActiveX controls required for application developers and end-users.

End-User install – installs only the ActiveX controls required for end-users.

The Visio Flow Editor control is required for end users due to software dependencies, even though end users do not typically view and edit flow rules.  However, the V5.2 End-User install incorrectly omits this control.

To allow users to access the ActiveX controls, you must use the Developer install when installing the OCX files:

1. 1. From the installation CD, copy OCXInstaller.zip to the local drive of your client workstation.
   2. Extract the contents of the zip file.
   3. Access the directory where you extracted the files and double-click setupwin32.exe to run the installation wizard.
   4. Accept the license agreement and click Next. The following appears.

1. 1. Select the Developer Install radio button.
   2. Click Next> to begin the installation. When installation is complete, the following message appears:
