Nature and purpose of the business relationship and customer risk

Updated on September 30, 2022

In its out-of-the-box behaviour, the answers to the N&P components do not directly affect the calculation of the overall customer risk rating (although indirectly the user could use the assessment of the N&P to justify the customer risk override).

However, nothing stops the FI from configuring the N&P as either an independent risk factor or feeding another risk factor, depending on the risk model applied.

Different from the customer risk rating – although very often there is a 1-to-1 match with it – is the Due Diligence (DD) profile applicable to the customer. In that respect, certain answers to the GKYC CDD questionnaire affect the DD profile of the customer, possibly raising it to Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) level2.

2 The other two DD profile levels are: Simplified Due Diligence (SDD), Full Due Diligence (FDD).
