New implementation of 8-digit BIN in Pega Smart Dispute

Updated on March 9, 2022
Pega Smart Dispute for Issuers

The 8DIGITBIN dynamic system setting (DSS), is configured to switch between 6-digit BIN and 8-digit BIN. The default value of the DSS is false. Consequently, issuers that plan to use only 8-digit BIN or a combination of 6-digit BIN and 8-digit BIN need to set the value to true.

When the value is set to true in the DSS, the system takes 8 digits from the card number as the BIN value.

When the value is set to false in the DSS, the system retains the 6-digit value for the BIN.

Based on the value set in the DSS, the parameter for IssuerId is set automatically in the new ‘SetIssuerId’ data transform. The Issuer call the SetIssuerId data transform rule mentioned in the following Rules table to set the value of the BIN data transform name that helps in loading the Issuer Details page.

Issuers using only 8-digit BIN

Create data transforms for your 8-digit BINs as shown in the following figure. Use a BIN+8-Digit BIN Number naming format. Set the necessary details of the issuer.

Create data transform for 8-digit BIN
The Definiton tab of the Data Transform page that allows the user to create data transforms for all 8-Digit BINs.

If you use the Smart Dispute accounting, configure the corresponding accounts in the FinChartOfAccts map value for all the 8-digit BINs.

In Smart Dispute accounting, configure the corresponding accounts in FinChartOfAccts map value for all the 8-digit BINs.

Issuers using old 6-digit BIN and new 8-digit BIN

Create data transforms for your new 8-digit BINs using a BIN+8-Digit BIN number naming format, as shown in the preceding figure. Set the necessary details.

Create all existing BIN data transforms using a BIN+6-Digit BIN number naming format.

Configure all 6-digit BIN numbers in the CheckIfBINIsAvailable decision table, and then set the return to true.

The Tables tab of the CheckIfBINIsAvailable decision table that shows the configuration of all the 6-Digit BIN numbers and set the return as true.

If you use Pega Smart Dispute accounting, configure the corresponding accounts in FinChartOfAccts map value for both 8-digit BINs and 6-digit BINs as shown in the preceding figure.
