The Data Migration Test in Staging involves migrating a dataset from your source infrastructure to Pega Cloud. This dataset should mirror the structure of your production dataset. The staging migration validates completion of the data migration pre-requisites along with any changes required to the structure or content of the data.  This might include adding primary keys to BLOB columns, conversion of any partitioned tables, time zone correction, etc.

IMPORTANT: By contract, your staging data must be redacted – no personal customer information can be present in any system except the production environment

This Data Migration Test aims to identify any data transfer issues in preparation for the Production Dry Run. The Pega Cloud team will work with you to resolve any data migration issues encountered. This might include such things as running additional DB scripts, importing additional RAPs, or running column population jobs.

Update the Migration Project Plan with any additional steps or procedures identified during the migration test.

Initial Load of Data

After establishing connectivity to your source database, Pega coordinates with your team to migrate the staging data.

Pega uses the initial load technique to migrate the data.  This is a bulk data migration from your source infrastructure to your Pega Cloud staging environment.

After migrating the data, Pega does database level testing to confirm that the migration was successful.  Pega recommends that you also do application and platform level testing of the migrated data.
