Environment Requirements and Mapping
+
This content applies to On-premises, Client-managed cloud and Pega Cloud environments
The standard RTL included with a Pega Cloud subscription includes three environments (Development, QA/Staging, and Production). You can also subscribe to a “production mirror” environment, or multiple QA environments, such as a QA environment for your QA team testing, and a User-Acceptance-Testing (UAT) environment for user testing.
When planning your Route to Live strategy, start by identifying your environment requirements, by answering these questions:
- How many environments do you need? Do you just need a development environment, a QA/staging environment, and a production environment, or do you need additional environments for other purposes (QA, UAT, or others)?
- How much database storage do you need for each environment?
- How much file storage do you need for each environment?
If you require additional environments to support your RTL strategy, discuss this with your Account team and Cloud Business Officer before any environments are provisioned. Environment requirements are included in your Pega Cloud Contract and are sized based on your business needs.
Define the mapping between your source environments and target Pega Cloud environments, along with any environment-specific test datasets required to support your Route to Live strategy. Include source and target platform versions, apps, components, and data sizing requirements (database and file storage)
Include all the environments required to support the prescriptive RTL in your Migration Project Plan under the appropriate phases. If there are any required for validation of the environments, ensure they are also included in the Migration Project Plan.
Review Standard Storage Entitlements for Pega Cloud Environments
Review the standard storage entitlements for the Pega Cloud instances included with your Pega Cloud subscription. If you require additional database or file storage to meet your business needs, work with your AE and Cloud Business Owner to plan this appropriately before your environments are provisioned. This ensures that the storage allocations provided with the Pega Cloud environments meet both your current and future business needs, and accommodate growth as needed.
