Migration to Value-Based Custom audience

If you use Paid Media Manager, find out about the impact of migration to the Value-Based Custom audience and deprecating the Custom audience.
Background
Before Pega Customer Decision Hub version 8.7, Paid Media Manager (PMM) used to generate 3 types of audiences for Facebook Ads:
- Custom audience
- PMM generates it if Paid channel is added and Enable Next-Best-Action paid audiences is enabled in an action.
- Value-Based Custom audience
- Value-Based Lookalike audience
- PMM generates it if Lookalike audience check box is enabled for paid configuration in Channel tab of Next-Best-Action Designer.
For all those audience types, PMM used to generate also Campaigns and Ad sets.
From Pega Customer Decision Hub version 8.7 onwards, PMM will generate only two types of audiences along with Campaigns and Ad sets:
- Value-Based Custom audience
- PMM will generate it if Paid channel is added and Enable Next-Best-Action paid audiences is enabled in an action.
- Value-Based Lookalike audience
- PMM will generate it if Lookalike audience check box is enabled for paid configuration in Channel tab of Next-Best-Action Designer.
Before Pega Customer Decision Hub version 8.7, the purpose of Value-Based Custom audience was to create the Lookalike audience. And as it was very similar to Custom audience, the PMM removed the duplicity of data and discontinued the Custom audience.
How the update is handled?
If you are using PMM, while updating to version 8.7 of Pega Customer Decision Hub, some changes to PMM will automatically be done during seamless update process. The PMM will:
- Delete all the data of Facebook Ads destinations from the PMM tables. Nothing will be deleted from Ad networks. Therefore, Campaign and Ads will not be affected in Ad network.
- Notification listing all the audiences deleted during this process will be generated. This notification will be visible in Channel tab of Next-Best-Action Designer under Paid Notification section.
After the update
After the successful update to Pega Customer Decision Hub version 8.7, you should continue to execute the Paid outbound run and Realtime run at top level. With the help of these runs, PMM will generate the Value-Based Custom audience and Value-Based Lookalike audience. Campaigns and Ad sets will also be generated. You just need to configure them according to requirements.
