Access Group settings for privilege control available in PRPC 6.1 SP2 (HFix-5536) and PRPC 6.2 SP2 (HFix-5535)

Updated on September 25, 2019

HFix-5535 is a mandatory hotfix for all PRPC 6.2 SP2 deployments. Installing HFix-5535 as a primary hotfix will prevent issues observed when HFix-5535 is an Additional Related Hotfix (dependent) of other primary hotfixes.

Summary

PRPC 6.1 SP2 HFix-5536 and PRPC 6.2 SP2 HFix-5535 provide the security enhancements that were delivered in PRPC 6.3 SP1 for implicit privileges, now referred to as generated privileges:

  • Augmenting Privileges with Access Group Settings
  • Tunable Rule Security Mode on Access Group Settings

Suggested Approach

  1. From Hotfix Self-Service, download and install HFix-5536 for PRPC 6.1 SP2 or HFix-5535 for PRPC 6.2 SP2.

After installing the hotfix and running PRPC, you might see this error:

    A processing error has occurred
Error Message “ “ PRRuntimeError PRRuntimeError
    Stack Trace

    HFix-5535 PRRuntimeError

  2. If you see the error, take the following actions:
    1. Stop the application server.
    2. Delete the file PegaRULES_Extract_Marker.txt.
    3. Restart the application server to recycle the JVM.
    4. Make sure there are no errors in the Pega log files.

If you see HFix-5535 or HFix-5536 listed in a DL file as an Additional Related Hotfix of another hotfix, do not install these hotfixes from the DL file. Submit a Support Request (SR) for Pegasystems Global Customer Support (GCS) to update the DL file so that it can be installed by Update Manager.
