DCO 3.1 - Using the Enterprise Application Accelerator
The Enterprise Application Accelerator is a Direct Capture tool that speeds the creation of new applications, frameworks, or the extension of existing applications.
It guides you though a series of steps to gather and review the information that is used to create the class structure and rules for your application. It supports an iterative development approach that allows you to enter, update, and save data until you are ready to create the application.
When primed with an application profile, data is transferred into the accelerator's input forms to avoid duplication of effort and ensure project requirements are captured. The data transferred from the profile includes:
- Application name
- Organization
- Business objectives
- Work types
- Requirements
- Detailed reports and correspondence
Launching the Accelerator
The accelerator can be launched from a completed application profile or a menu on the developer portal.
From the resolve screen of the application profile, click Generate this Application.
From the File menu on the developer portal, select one of these options:
- New > Enterprise Application to create a new application
- Open > Wizards in Progress > Enterprise Applications on My WorkList to open accelerator objects on your worklist
- Open > All Wizards to open an existing accelerator record from a list of open and resolved objects
Stepping Through the Process
When the accelerator starts, a unique accelerator object prefixed with AA- is created. The following list of processing steps appears on the left side of the screen.
- Application Background - identifies the profile used to create the application, the type of application, and the business objectives
- Base and RuleSets - specifies and displays the class and organizational structure of the application
- Actors - lists the actors who perform work in the application
- Roles - defines how actors participate in processing work in the application
- Work Types - lists the types of work processed by the application and associates them with use cases
- Work Type Details - specifies display names, prefixes and inheritance structures for the work types
- Flows - defines flow names for work types and associates them with use cases
- Requirements - lists the business and operational processing requirements
- Reporting - lists the standard and custom reports
- Correspondence - lists the correspondence
- Other Extensions - lists rules that have been flagged for extension; this step appears when creating a new application based on a framework
- Review Application - allows you to review the rules and class structure prior to creating the application
As you move through the input steps:
- Enter the data.
Click on a step to display a pop-up help window similar to the one below that describes how to complete the step.
- Click Next >> to move to the next step.
- Click a step at any time to return to a step or click <<Back to return to the previous step.
- Click Save at any time to save your input. You can reopen the accelerator later to add details to individual steps as you iterate through the process of entering the application data.
- Click Cancel to cancel the application and resolve it with a status of Resolved-Withdrawn.
Reviewing the Application
The Review Application step lists the rules that will be generated and displays the class structure that will be built based on your accelerator input.
If you want to update any of the input data prior to creating the application, click the step you want to update or click <<Back to return to the previous screen. When finished, click the Review Application step to review your changes.
Creating the Application
From the Review Application step:
- Click Createto build the application.
As it builds a group of rules, an animated processing symbol tracks the build process and updates the status of the group. A check mark displays when a group is created. If a rule cannot be created, a warning message appears. Typically, a warning message indicates a duplicate record in the system.
- Click Createto build the application.
Click Stop if you want to stop the build and delete the records that have been created.
- When the build completes, click Finish to resolve the accelerator object and display a confirmation screen.
- Click Closeto exit the wizard or click one of these options:
- Switch to new application to change the focus of the developer portal and the application explorer to the new application
- Reopen Accelerator
- to reopen the accelerator object to a delete the application, perform updates, and regenerate the application
- Delete to delete the application
Deleting the Application
There may be times when you want to delete the application built by the accelerator and start over. A Delete button displays on the build and confirmation screens. It also appears on all screens when a resolved accelerator object is reopened.
- Click Delete to display the list of the application rules that were built in a separate window.
- Click Delete All Listed Objects. The accelerator begins to delete the rules starting at the top of the list. An animated symbol tracks the deletion process.
- Click Stop if you want to stop the delete and restore the application.
- When all objects have been deleted, click Close.
