Purpose of this guide

A project team implementing a Pega Platform application uses this implementation guide to enable and extend application features to meet your business requirements. You must install the application before you implement it.

For information on installing your application, see the product installation guides on the Pega Client Lifecycle Management for Financial Services product page.

The Building a new application chapter in this implementation guide describes step-by-step how to create your implementation layer and start using the application. Follow the procedures in this guide, even if you want to use the product out of the box with all the default configurations. Completing the tasks described in this implementation guide is mandatory to ensure proper implementation of the product.

The remaining parts of the guide explain how to configure and extend existing functionality. Follow the procedures in this guide to complete the tasks as a part of your first minimum lovable product (MLP) release, or during subsequent iterative releases to configure and extend functional features on top of that MLP. The configuration tasks given are optional and are only required when you want to meet specific business needs.
