Supported features in Pega Client for Windows

Updated on June 15, 2022

Client for Windowsserves as a container for Pega Platform applications. It communicates directly with the Pega Platform server and supports online and offline-enabled applications.

Note: In the context of offline-enabled applications, Client for Windows supports applications that you created in Pega Platform 8.7 or in Pega Platform version 8.3 and earlier. If you plan to use Client for Windowswith Pega Platform version 8.4, 8.5, or 8.6, you must migrate or import your application from earlier Pega Platform versions.

Offline-enabled applications created in Pega Platform version 8.3 and earlier that run on Client for Windows require UI Kit, while applications created in Pega Platform 8.7 can use either UI Kit or Theme Cosmos.

User interface guidelines for offline-enabled applications

Pega Platform 8.7
Build your application by using the Theme Cosmos UI architecture or UI Kit.

For Theme Cosmos applications, download the ThemeCosmosCfW ruleset from Pega Marketplace. For the download link, see Theme Cosmos for Pega Client for Windows.

For UI Kit applications, build your application by using the latest version of the UI Kit design system that is available for your Pega Platform version, for example, UI Kit14 for Pega Platform version 8.7. Additionally, when you build such an application, use an iframe-less dynamic container in a screen layout and use data pages or a local list to source data. You can also use back-to-back assignments in a standard flow for offline mode.

Pega Platform 8.3 and earlier
To ensure that your offline-enabled Pega application runs correctly in Client for Windows, build your application by using the latest version of the UI Kit design system that is available for your Pega Platform version, for example, UI Kit 14 for Pega Platform version 8.3. Additionally, when you build such an application, use an iframe-less dynamic container in a screen layout and use data pages or a local list to source data. You can also use back-to-back assignments in a standard flow for offline mode.
