Running the optimization check utility for decision strategies

Updated on December 20, 2021

This content applies only to On-premises and Client-managed cloud environments

Run a post-upgrade utility that checks strategies within your application for areas that you can optimize, for example, by reducing the number of page properties that are copied from one shape to another. Running the utility produces a report that you can use to plan the required updates to your strategies.

Pega Customer Decision Hub Update Guide
If your environment includes Pega Customer Decision Hub for Communications or Pega Customer Decision Hub for Financial Services, run the check utility after you upgrade these vertical applications. Running the utility on the application that contains the top level strategies in your decision logic ensures that all relevant strategies are included in the check.
  1. In Dev Studio, click ConfigureSystemReleaseUpgradeUpgrade Tools.
  2. Click Check decision strategies for optimizations.
  3. In the Strategy Performance Analysis window, select the strategy or strategies that you want to analyze.
  4. Click Analyze.
  5. As utility the runs, a pop-up window appears. When the run finishes, this pop-up window displays the XML output.
Important: Do not close the pop-up window while the utility runs.
  6. Review the results of the check.
The utility flags components that you can optimize, as well as components that cannot be optimized and legacy logic that will produce different results after optimization. For more information about the impact of optimization on legacy components, see Optimized strategy execution engine compatibility: known issues and fixes.
