Enhanced REST API

The articles/KMCreateArticle API now allows up to five file attachments with each article, with a maximum file attachment size of 5MB.

The API also supports the standard file attachment types (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx, and .pdf) and image attachment types (.jpg, .gif, .png, and .svg) that Pega platform supports. You can configure rate limiting (to mitigate denial of service attacks) and specify restricted file types in the authoring portal. A stub or extension is also provided for organizations who want to call a virus scan service.

See Using Pega Knowledge REST APIs in the Pega Knowledge Implementation Guide.

Improved Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

To continue support for public searching of articles on Pega Knowledge self-service sites, Pega Knowledge Search Engine Optimization processes have been enhanced to ensure that public search engines can effectively crawl and index Pega Knowledge self-service sites.

For more information, see Enabling web crawlers to index Pega Knowledge help sites in the Pega Knowledge Implementation Guide.

Improved editing capability

Authors can now edit articles that are in a Pending-Publish state with a set publication date. Previously, you could not edit articles in the Pending-Publish state once the publication date was set.

Faster viewing of URL content

With a single click, users can now immediately display the content of an article that has a Content Type= URL.

Previously, when you selected an article with the Content Type=URL from the Knowledge panel in the Interaction portal or self-service help site, the article that displayed the URL opened, and then required a second mouse-click to open the referenced URL.

Pega Knowledge deprecated features

The Pega Knowledge Community feature is being deprecated in the release 8.6. Although the feature remains available in this release, no further development or new features will be added. The Pega Knowledge Community feature will be completely withdrawn in a later release.
