With the first Minimal Lovable Product (MLP) live, your team can celebrate and start to turn its attention to the next MLP deliveries!

But before you go any further, one of the first things you should do is to perform a release retrospective so that learnings can be taken into the next release. The entire project team should participate in this retrospective, not just the Scrum team. You should review the release goals, timeline, budget, major events, and success metrics and discuss what worked well and what didn’t. Most importantly, you’ll identify specific ways to improve future work and develop strategies that everyone can agree on for future releases.

A release going live is not the end of a project.  Usually it is just the first release. The current phase should be monitored to ensure the outcomes are delivered, and enhanced based on user feedback.  Review analytics and usage patterns to see if the usage is as expected, or what should be changed. This data will always be used to refine your Pega roadmap based on what you have learned to reprioritize deliveries and delivering the next MLP.

You may have already carefully planned your next MLP well in advance, or you may have changed your priorities based on what you have learned during MLP1. It is the Product Owner who determines which microjourneys™ are appropriate for MLP2.

A quick transition to the next MLP (which may start in parallel to some of the later test rapidly/adopt activities from the proceeding in-flight MLP project) is important to maintain momentum and make maximum use of the available resources. If the delivery team will remain the same, the next MLP needs to be determined during the Build phase of MLP1. There may be an opportunity to start the prepare phase of MLP2 alongside the proceeding MLP’s test activities.  As your project matures you will be able to streamline the process so that you are constantly elaborating user stories in advance, performing a release, then immediately moving into the next sprint to deliver your next MLP.
