Pega Express best practice Microjourney Accelerators

Updated on July 1, 2024

Fundamental to Pega Express™ is delivering outcomes quickly. A key part of this using pre-configured Microjourneys® and specifically created tools to facilitate a rapid and guided implementation approach.

What are Microjourney Accelerators ?

Simply put, Microjourney® accelerators are the tools and capabilities of Pega products that enable the rapid design and building of Pega applications.

Business outcomes can be achieved even faster by using the Pega Express™ delivery approach, by taking advantage of the out-of-the- box (OOTB) Microjourneys. These OOTB Microjourneys are the most commonly used, pre-configured Microjourneys that can be used on their own or as part of a bespoke application. Pega products provide a host of industry aligned, predefined Microjourneys that support the most common requirements. For example, Microjourneys for Pega Customer Service products cover various CS sectors, such as financial services, communication, insurance, and healthcare.

Furthermore, Pega Customer Decision Hub™ (CDH) provides pre-populated tools (known as Minimum Lovable Product (MLP) backlogs), which articulate, step-by-step, all the activities required to quickly configure and bring to production the following four most common high-value Microjourneys:

  • Inbound
  • Outbound
  • Next Best Action Advisor
  • Paid Media channels

Why do Microjourney Accelerators add value?

Out-of-the-box Microjourneys enable project teams to design and build solutions in the fastest possible way, by incorporating pre-built Microjourneys, such as change of address, in the design and configuration stages. These Microjourneys can be adapted quickly to fit available endpoints and can be tailored to the specific needs of the client. Furthermore, they facilitate faster testing because the functionality in the Microjourneys has been tested extensively, before being made available in the product.

CDH Microjourneys that are captured by MLP backlog tools enable rapid configuration in a prescriptive way, ensuring that project teams follow logical steps when building out marketing solutions.

When do Microjourney Accelerators take place?

The concept of out-of-the-box Microjourneys and Pega Customer Decision Hub MLP backlogs should be considered alongside the identification of your Microjourneys and the creation of your Minimum Lovable Product roadmap. By understanding what is available, you can quickly identify opportunities to reduce your implementation times by adopting Microjourneys as part of your solution, or by following MLP backlog steps to configure and then go live with your CDH solution.

As you design your solution, you can also identify further opportunities to use pre-configured solutions as part of the application, and reflect the work in your product backlog and user stories. You can then tailor your testing to focus on what has changed, rather than spend time testing the already configured Microjourney's functionality.
