Adding a work order to a service in a job in the Pega Field Service Dispatcher portal

Updated on March 16, 2021

Add a related work order to the service of an existing job to include additional work to the scope of the job.

Before you begin: Create a work order. For more information, see Creating a standalone work order in the Pega Field Service Dispatcher portal.
  1. In the Pega Field Service Dispatcher portal, in the Jobs list, click the job that you want to modify.

  2. In the Services section, click the service that you want to modify.

  3. Identify the service to which the new work order needs to be added and then click Add work order.

  4. In the Add work order window, select a work order type.

  5. In the Work order template field, select a template which is maintained in the Pega Field Service Admin portal.

Based on the work order template that you select, the application automatically populates the work order information, including the Duration, Skills and certifications, and Associated tasks.
  6. Optional:

Select a configured product owned by the customer.

Based on the configured product that you select, the application automatically populates the location and the primary contact configured information in the Location field and Contact at location field respectively. If you want to make any changes to the location and primary contact, you can select appropriate entries from the Location and Contact at location lists.
  7. Optional:

To associate tasks that are not listed on the Associated tasks tab, click Add task and complete the displayed fields.

A task is a specific sub-unit of work that can be performed in the context of a work order, such as completing a safety checklist. When you associate a task within a work order, the task case appears in the corresponding work order case when it is created.
  8. Optional:

In the Skills and Certifications fields, click Add skill and Add certification and complete the displayed fields.

Adding required skills to a work order ensures that the work order is assigned to a qualified field worker, saves you time, and keeps your business processes consistent.
  9. Click Submit.
