Validating and dispatching route schedules
Validate route schedules in the Dispatcher portal before dispatching them to create the corresponding work orders for the assigned field workers. You can validate a maximum of ten route schedules at a time.
- The location is associated with an active service.
- The field worker that is associated with the location is available for the required duration for the scheduled date and time.
- The field worker has the required skills or the certifications for the service that is associated with the location, where applicable.
In the Pega Route Service Dispatcher portal, select the desired date using the calendar icon.
- Optional:
To view work orders in different date ranges in the Dispatcher portal, perform the steps as mentioned in Viewing work orders in different date ranges in the Pega Field Service Dispatcher portal.
Select the Undispatched routes tab.
In the Undispatched routes tab, select the check boxes for the routes that you want to dispatch, and then click Validate and Dispatch.
- Optional:
If you choose multiple route schedules for validation and dispatch, to search the route schedules for a specified field worker, in the Unscheduled Routes window, in the Search field, enter the name of the field worker.
Result: The matching field worker assignments are highlighted in the corresponding route schedules. - Optional:
To reuse the field worker assignments from previously dispatched route schedules, in the Unscheduled Routes window, in the Import schedules of list, select a week.
Note: Only the past eight weeks are available for assignment import into the active week. Result: The assignments for the selected week are imported into the active week. If the week that you select does not have any instances of a route schedule, the import does not run and the current week's default assignments do not change. In the Unscheduled Routes window, validate the route schedules that you selected by clicking Validate.
Result: The status of successfully validated route schedules changes to VALIDATED. If any validation errors occur, decide how you want to address the issues:
If route-level validation errors occur, a warning symbol is displayed next to the route name, and the entire row is highlighted red. If field worker-level validation errors occur, a warning symbol appears in an individual cell, and the cell is highlighted red.
- If you want to resolve the route-level errors, modify the route definition.
- If you want to fix or override the field worker-level validation errors, select the Allow exception check box.
Choose the validated routes by selecting the corresponding check boxes in the Routes column, and then click Dispatch.
Result: Dispatched route schedules are moved to the Dispatched routes tab. The status of the route schedules changes to DISPATCHED-INPROGRESS. If an error occurs, the status of the unscheduled route schedule is Validation-Failure. For more information about validation errors, see Error handling for routes.
