Example case types

Updated on April 26, 2021

The following examples represent some of the key features of Pega Product Catalog for Communications and provide business scenarios where you can use these case types.

Pega Foundation for Communications Product Overview

Example 1: Launch a new product by creating a new product offer

U+ Communications has planned to launch 4G services. As part of this initiative, U+ Communications will launch various sizes of 4G data packs with other additional features, such as no extra charge roaming. Mike Rodgers, who is a product manager of U+ Communications, defines these products in Pega Product Catalog for Communications. He creates required product specifications, composite price entities, and pricing policies, and uses these to create different product offerings for different 4G data packs.

After creating the required product offerings, he validates these products in the consuming applications such as billing, order management, fulfillment, and marketing. After completing the validation process, he publishes these products in Pega Product Catalog for Communications to launch these products.

Example 2: Launch a new version of a product by using a versioning feature

Based on the feedback from customers and other stakeholders, U+ communications decides to reduce the price of the 10 GB 4G data pack, which is very popular among young customers. To alter the price, Mike Rodgers decides to create a new version of the 10 GB 4G data pack offer with a new composite price.

He validates the new versions of the product offer and publishes it in the application.
