Installing Pega Foundation for Healthcare

Updated on January 18, 2022

Review the following information, and then perform the tasks required to install the Pega Foundation for Healthcare application.

The application stack of the Pega Foundation for Healthcare 8.7 media is bundled into separate, add-on application modules. These modules allow you to select the application features for your site's specific needs. You can use the following add-on application modules that are included on the Pega Foundation for Healthcare 8.7 release media:

  • PegaHC Core - The minimum, default application that includes the Pega healthcare data model, healthcare codes management, common object API rules and Provides drug data search using the RxNorm database. This application is a prerequisite for the other optional application modules included in this release.

  • PegaHC AGM – Provides management for member complaints, including grievances and appeals.

  • Pega X12 5010 – Provides HIPAA X12 EDI message processing capabilities.

  • PegaHC FHIR®© – Provides HL7® FHIR REST®© APIs for integrating with clinical data repositories.

  • Pega HL7 – Provides HL7 v2.2 and v2.3 support for managing Admission, Discharge and Transfer (ADT) inbound messages from third-party systems.

  • PegaHC EWS – Provides integration capabilities with Microsoft® Exchange Web Services for appointment scheduling.

  • PegaHC DDS – Provides drug data search using the RxNorm database.
  • PegaHC – An overarching application that includes all the add-on modules in this list. The modules are referenced as multiple, built-on applications.

  • U+ Health Demo – A demo application that helps you explore the default application capabilities. The application provides sample customer data and sample operators. For more details on how to configure the demo application, see the Pega Foundation for Healthcare 8.7 Implementation Guide, available on the Pega Foundation for Healthcare product page.

You can select one of two installation paths for a Pega Foundation for Healthcare installation:

  • Import the modularized application files (recommended) – Select individual applications to install. For example, if you want to install the PegaHC AGM application, install the PegaHC Core application first, and then install only the PegaHC AGM application. You can install the core application plus one additional application, or multiple applications as needed. See Importing the modularized application files.
  • Import the full application file – Installs all of the add-on applications. You cannot select individual applications to install. See Importing the full application file.
