Drug search using RxNorm data model
Pega Foundation for Healthcare provides a portal named ‘Drug Data Store’ to search and view the drug details.
- If you have imported the Pega Foundation for Healthcare demo application and sample
operators aspart of installation, Log in to the application as DDSUserusing the
password that you specified when you enabled this operator; to enable Pega-provided
operators, see Enabling operators.
Otherwise, complete the following steps to create a new operator ID:
- Login to Dev Studio by using the operator ID [email protected]andthe password that you specified for that operator.
- Save a copy of the existing [email protected]operator,and give it a name that identifies it a DDS user operator.
- Add PEGAHCDDS:Users access group to the new operator record. Click the radio button to the left of the access group to select it as the default access group.
- Save the new operator record.
- Log in as the new operator that you created to launch Drug Data Store portal.
- Click Search RxNorm to launch the search screen.
- In RxNorm Drug search, user can search using STRING, NDC, ANDA, RXCUI, AMPID, HCPCS.

Enter the string in the search box and click Search to view the results as shown below:

If multiple matches are found, then user will be prompted to select string and related RXCUI (Please see the screen shot below) Once the RXCUI is selected from below list, user can view the search results.
- NDC Search
- Enter the 11-digit normalized NDC code in the search box and click Search to view the results as shown below.To view the packaging information related to NDC, click on the second tab (NDC). The results are be displayed as shown in the following figure.
- Labeler information is obtained from the RxNorm data files that were consumed initially. To get the packaging information, calling the DailyMed API. The DailyMed RESTful API is a web service for accessing various drug information.
