Pega Modernization Implementation Guide

Updated on October 12, 2023

This content applies to On-premises, Client-managed cloud and Pega Cloud environments

This document should be used in conjunction with the Pega Cloud Readiness Tool, and an overall migration or modernization assessment.

The Pega Cloud Readiness Tool identifies areas in your Pega solution where there are gaps between the features and capabilities of your current system, and the features and capabilities of the latest version of the Pega Platform. The Pega Cloud Readiness Tool then produces a report of its findings. The gaps in each of the areas identified in the report should be updated and modernized.

The latest version of the Pega Platform includes many standard, out-of-the-box (OOTB) components.  Use these whenever possible to increase both the speed of delivery now and the ease of maintenance later, as well as improve performance and stability.

This Modernization Implementation Guide assists you in understanding each of the areas identified and provides a high-level approach to follow in order to correctly update and modernize your Pega solution to leverage the latest capabilities of the Pega platform.

In general, the gaps identified by the Pega Cloud Readiness Tool are listed in the report by Area and Rule Type. However, in some cases this Guide also contains information about other gaps that are not listed in the report from the Pega Cloud Readiness Tool.

NOTE: This Guide does not cover systems that include Pega Marketing older than 7.31. If your system includes an older version of Pega Marketing, contact your Pega account team for guidance.
