Creating an administrative user for the Pega Process Fabric Hub

Updated on November 9, 2021

Ensure that a selected user can perform necessary actions on your Pega Process Fabric Hub application by creating an administrative user. An administrative user accumulates privileges for all other Pega Process Fabric Hub user types, and can also perform additional application-level actions in Dev Studio and Admin Studio.

For example, an administrative user can log in to Admin Studio to analyze queue processors that run in the Pega Process Fabric Hub, and change the production level of the Pega Process Fabric Hub application in Dev Studio. The administrative user also configures additional operators to log in to the Pega Process Fabric Hub with an appropriate role, such as a manager, a user, or a configurator, along with relevant access mechanisms. The administrative user also sets up dynamic system settings related to the Pega Process Fabric Hub and configures the Pega Process Fabric Hub keystore.
Before you begin: If you do not have your single sign-on (SSO) for Pega Platform configured yet, use [email protected] as an ID and the supplied credentials.

You create an administrative user for the Pega Process Fabric Hub by defining a new operator in Dev Studio and providing relevant settings during the creation process.

Note: Ensure that an administrative user performs actions on the Pega Process Fabric Hub only in situations when changes are absolutely necessary.
  1. In the header of Dev Studio, click CreateOrganizationOperator ID.
  2. On the Create Operator ID form, in the Short description field, enter the full name of the new operator.
  3. In the Operator ID field, enter a unique identifier.
    For example: Enter PPFHubAdmin.
  4. Click Create and open.
  5. On the Profile tab, in the Application Access section, provide application access:
    1. In the Access Group field, enter PPF:Administrators.
    2. Optional: To set PPF:Administrators as the default access group, select a radio button next to the access group.
For example: The following figure shows a configuration that sets PPF:Administrators as the default access group for the administrative user:
    Default access group setting
An operator rule form with the PPF:Administrators set as the default access group
  6. Update a password for the new operator:
    1. On the Security tab, in the Access Settings section, click Update password.
    2. In the Change Operator ID Password dialog box, in the New password and Confirm new password fields, enter a new password.
Note: Ensure that you enter identical values in both fields.
    3. Click Submit.
  7. On the Security tab, in the Access Settings section, select the Allow rule check out.
Result: The administrative operator can check out rules to make changes in the Pega Process Fabric Hub application.
  8. Click Save.
Result: The administrative user can log in to Dev Studio to provide access to the Pega Process Fabric Hub to more users and configure the Pega Process Fabric Hub dynamic system settings and keystore.
