Personas in the Pega Process Fabric Hub

Updated on November 4, 2021

Personas represent types of users that can interact with the Pega Process Fabric Hub. Each persona has different available actions to perform and portals to access, based on its role in the organization. By understanding how different types of personas can operate, you can manage users more efficiently and ensure that every user has permissions to perform actions that directly relate to their responsibilities in the workflow.

For example, a manager persona can view reports that contain data from registered applications, while a configurator persona can register remote applications with the Pega Process Fabric Hub and manage application life cycle.

The following list contains the types of personas that are available in the Pega Process Fabric Hub with short descriptions of corresponding roles and actions:

User
End users who have a user persona have access to a unified worklist on the Home landing page in the Pega Process Fabric Hub. From this worklist, users who have this persona can obtain their prioritized work and use the Next Best Work algorithm to receive an assignment that the Pega Process Fabric Hub estimates as the most important. In addition, the user persona can interact with work queues that the user associated with the persona can access. The user persona can also view a list of registered applications, but users who have this persona cannot take any action in an application life cycle.

The following figure shows the unified worklist that the user persona can access:

For more information, see Assignments management in the Interwoven Worklist.

Manager
End-users who have a manager persona typically have access to analytical data from registered applications that is available in the Pega Process Fabric Hub Insights. End-users who have the manager persona also strive to increase throughput by properly planning and reassigning work in the remote application. Users who have this persona can access a unified worklist on the Home landing page and a list of registered applications, but they cannot take any action on an application life cycle.

The following figure shows the Pega Process Fabric Hub Insights with which users who have the manager persona can interact:

For more information, see Pega Process Fabric Hub Insights.

Configurator
Users who have ta configurator persona are responsible for connections between remote applications and the Pega Process Fabric Hub. A user with the configurator persona can register a remote application with the Pega Process Fabric Hub, and then manage the application by performing actions that pertain to different business scenarios, such as updating work queues mappings or deactivating an application. The configurator persona can access a unified worklist and logs, as well as access and edit settings that affect the Next Best Work algorithm.

The following figure shows a page with application details that a configurator can access to view activity logs, manage application life cycle, and change application weighting:

For more information, see Setting the weighting for your applications and Managing applications in the Pega Process Fabric Hub.

Administrator
Users who have an administrator persona have the roles of all other personas that are available in the Pega Process Fabric Hub. As a best practice, assign this persona to a user only in situations when the user must perform application-level actions from Dev Studio or Admin Studio, such as changing the production level of the Pega Process Fabric Hub or managing queue processors that run in the Pega Process Fabric Hub.

For more information, see Creating an administrative user for the Pega Process Fabric Hub.

DataSyncAdministrator
Users who have a DataSyncAdministrator persona are responsible for data synchronization between the Pega Process Fabric Hub and remote applications. This persona corresponds with the DataSyncOperator record. You do not assign this operator record to a specific user. The Pega Process Fabric Hub includes this operator record by default, and for a proper data synchronization, you must avoid changing any configuration of this record.

Ensure that you enable the DataSyncOperator record that corresponds with the DataSyncAdministrator persona. If you host the Pega Process Fabric Hub in Pega Cloud services environment, the operator is disabled by default. For more information, see Preparing Pega Process Fabric Hub for the Pega Cloud services environment.
