Inheritance scenarios for SBC mass generation

Updated on April 12, 2021

In the SBC mass generation feature, the inheritance scenarios differ based on how you select the entities, for example, a product with a child plan or a separate plan. It is important to understand the scenarios because they drive the results that you get from the mass generation process.

The following table shows various configuration for SBC mass generation and the results.

On the You selected a product with plans Products in the section. No change in the product or plan data occurs. The PDF documents are generated, one for each product or plan.
In the Products section, you selected Product A which has two plans: A and B. You selected only Plan A. You selected plan B in the Plans section.

No change in the product or plan data occurs. The PDF documents are generated, one for each product or plan.

In the SBC mass generation inputs section on the Document Generation page, you selected a network and changed the name, for example, Preferred Provider plan. In the Products section, you selected Product A which has two plans: A and B. You selected only Plan A. You selected plan B in the Plans section.

The network name is updated in the SBC document for the selected product and plans.

The data is changed only for the provided network with the selected entities. For Plan A, the network is inherited from the product. For Plan B, the network is overridden at the plan level.

The PDF documents are generated.

On the Document Generation page, you selected a template but did not configure networks in the SBC mass generation inputs section.

In the Products section, you selected Product A which has two plans: A and B. You selected only Plan A. You selected plan B in the Plans section.

The SBC documents are generated by using the specified template and up to three networks that are specified in the products or plans as well as other existing data in the product and plans.

Product A uses the SBC template that you configured in the SBC mass generation inputs section. Because Plan A is a child of Product A, the plan inherits from Product A.

Plan B uses the SBC template that is configured in the SBC mass generation inputs section.

On the Document Generation page, you selected the template and the networks in the SBC mass generation inputs section.

In the Products section, you selected Product A which has two plans: A and B. You selected only Plan A. You selected plan B in the Plans section.

The SBC documents are generated by using the specified template and the specified network and the existing data in the product and plans.

Product A uses the SBC template and networks that were configured in the SBC mass generation inputs section. Because Plan A is a child of Product A, the plan inherits from Product A.

For Plan B, a template and network override occurs.

For example, if you changed what is excluded in the SBC document that was previously associated with the products and plans, the information is overridden with the data from the new SBC template.

On the Document Generations page, in the SBC mass generation inputs section, you associate a new template with entities that previously were associated with other SBC templates.

In the Products section, you selected Product A which has two plans: A and B. You selected only Plan A. You selected plan B in the Plans section.

In this scenario, any existing SBC configuration is overridden with the configuration from the new SBC template. New SBC documents are generated for the product and plans.

Product A uses the SBC template that is configured in the SBC mass generation inputs section. Because Plan A is a child of Plan B, the plan inherits the SBC template.

Plan B's original SBC template is overridden with the template that was configured in the SBC mass generation inputs section.
