Optional: Configuring a plan bundle

Updated on September 10, 2021

Configuring a plan bundle is optional. A plan bundle is an aggregation of different stand-alone plans that are sold as one item. A plan bundle is used to group plans such as medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy and market them as a bundle.

A fixed bundle is one where the products are always sold together. For example, when you enroll in ABC Medical, you automatically are enrolled in the plans that were configured in the bundle. A choice bundle means that you can add multiple plans of the same type, for example, medical, when you configure the plan bundle.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have created the healthcare insurance plan. See Configuring the healthcare insurance plan.

Although you have not created another plan in this tutorial, a Pharmacy plan exists that will be used as an example for this procedure.

Procedure

  1. In the left navigation panel of your work space, click New > Plan Bundle.
  2. Click Fixed bundle.
  3. In the Name field, enter PPO-Plan Bundle.
  4. In the Line of business list, click Commercial.
  5. In the Effective date field, enter 1/1/2019 and in the End date field, enter 12/31/9999.
This end date means that the product template might be in use indefinitely. By entering 9999 for the year in the end date, you do not have to continually update the end date.
  6. In the Description field, enter PPO plan bundle.
    Plan bundle details
  7. Click Continue.
  8. In the Select medical plan list, enter and select PPO SB Plan.
  9. In the Select pharmacy plan list, enter and select Pharmacy plan.
    Plan selection
  10. Click Continue.
  11. Review your plan bundle and then click Finish.
  12. Because you have manager credentials, approve the plan bundle entity by following these steps:
    1. Click Actions > Approve and hold at the top right.
By selecting Approve and hold instead of Approve, the entity remains in the current stage, but is available for use in other tasks. To advance the entity to the next stage, click Approve.
    2. In the Approve section, click Submit.
