Changing settings from the Pega Robot Manager interface 8.4.2
Beginning with Pega Robot Manager 8.4.2, you can edit multiple settings relating to robot registration, reporting, and configuration from the Pega Robot Manager user interface.
- Robot registration – Create application-specific copies of decision tables, change the values in application-specific decision tables, or revert to inherited decision tables by removing their application-specific copies.
- Reporting– Enable or disable usage data aggregation time intervals (hourly, daily, monthly, or yearly) per application or use the settings inherited from the built-on application.
For more information about reporting in Pega Robot Manager, see Creating, editing, and viewing reports in Pega Robot Manager 8.4.2 - Configuration:
- Intervals (global settings) – Set custom heartbeat and work polling intervals.
- Thresholds by notification time – Set application-specific threshold values for various notifications for the web gadget or email.

Settings inheritance through the application stack
By default, the decision tables and notification thresholds settings are inherited from the built-on (parent) application. If the built-on application inherits the settings from its parent application, the application stack is followed until the dependency is resolved. If no application contains its own instance of the settings, the default Pega Robot Manager settings are used.
To customize settings on an application-specific level, create an application-specific instance of the settings that you want to modify, and then edit this instance. By using application-specific copies of settings, you can customize them without affecting the built-on application.
For more information about creating and editing application-specific copies of settings, see Creating application-specific copy of decision tables and Changing the values of application-specific decision tables.
Creating application-specific copy of decision tables
You can create application-specific copies of decision tables, and then customize them for your application.
- In Pega Robot Manager, click Settings.
- Select the actions that you want to perform:
Choices Actions Copy multiple robot registration decision tables from a built-on application.
- Click Robot registration.
- Click the More icon in the main section, and then select Copy.
- In the Copy decision table(s) window, select an application from the application stack inheritance chain as the source of the decision table.
- Select the decision tables to copy.
- Click Submit.
Copy individual robot registration decision tables from a built-on application. - Click Robot registration.
- Click the icon in the decision table section, and then click Edit.
- In the Copy decision table(s) window, select an application from the application stack inheritance chain as the source of the decision table.
- Click Submit.
Copy the notification thresholds by notification type decision tables. - Click Configurations.
- In the Threshold by notification type section, click the icon, and then click Edit.
- In the Copy decision table(s) window, select an application from the application stack inheritance chain as the source of the decision tables.
- Click Submit.
Changing the values in application-specific decision tables
By using application-specific copies of settings, you can customize them without affecting the built-on application. However, the changes are also reflected in all child applications that inherit these settings from the current application.
For more information about robot registration, see Robot registration and work group assignment for RPA (unattended) robots.
- In Pega Robot Manager, click Settings.
- Select the actions that you want to perform:
Choices | Actions |
Add a row to a robot registration decision table. |
|
Remove a row from a robot registration decision table. |
|
Edit a row in a robot registration decision table. |
|
Edit the default work group, default access group, or default candidate work group list in a robot registration decision table. |
|
Edit the notification thresholds by notification type. |
|
Reverting to inherited decision tables
You can revert to inherited settings by removing your application-specific copies of decision tables. This change also affects applications that inherit from the current application.
- In Pega Robot Manager, click Settings, and then go to the decision table that you want to revert to inherited settings.
- Click the More icon in the decision table section, and then click Edit.
- Click Remove and then click Submit.
Result: You removed the decision table from the current application. The relevant table is now inherited from the built-on application (in read-only mode).
Setting the heartbeat and work polling intervals
If you edit the heartbeat interval global setting, the change affects all your Pega Robot Manager applications on the current Pega Platform™ instance.
- In Pega Robot Manager, click Settings.
- Click Configurations.
- In the Intervals section, click the More icon, and then select Edit.
- Enter the new interval values, in seconds.
Robots use the heartbeat interval when they send a signal to your Pega Platform application. If the heartbeat interval has been exceeded for a robot, the robot displays a red icon, indicating that the connection to the robot has been lost.
The work polling interval indicates how long robots should wait between requesting new work assignments. - Click Save.
Setting the data aggregation interval for reporting
By default, usage intervals are inherited from the built-on (parent) application. If the built-on application also inherits settings from its parent application, the application stack is followed until the dependency is resolved. If no application contains its own instance of the settings, Pega Robot Manager uses the default settings. Pega Robot Manager always collects the data half-hourly, but you can determine how the data is aggregated and stored. You can aggregate and store data in the hourly, daily, monthly and yearly intervals based on your reporting needs and database storage.
- In Pega Robot Manager, log in to your application.
- From the Pega Robot Manager dashboard, choose Settings.
- Click Reporting.
- Click More > Copy settings.
- In the Copy settings for reporting dialog box, set the data aggregation details:
a) In the Select an application to copy from list, select an application from which to copy the settings.
b) Select check boxes with intervals.
c) Click Submit.
The Inherited from column of the applied intervals displays the Current application status. - Optional: To remove a usage interval, click the Remove from current application icon.
