Updating robot settings

Updated on October 7, 2021

Use the XML-aware editor in Robot Manager to quickly and conveniently adjust Runtime configuration files to your business needs.

The XML editor provides a user-friendly and transparent environment in which you can easily search for settings of interest, adjust their values, and then validate the syntax.

When you begin editing, the file is locked, which prevents other users from modifying the file. If you have a lock on the file, no other users can modify the file until the lock expires.

Note: You cannot edit the master configuration file. To make enterprise-specific modifications to this file, you must save the master configuration file as a new file. For more information, see Creating configuration files in Pega Robot Manager.
  1. In the navigation pane of Pega Robot Manager, click SettingsRuntime configs.
  2. Click the Runtime configuration file that you want to edit.
  3. In the top-right corner of the Settings tab, click Edit.
  4. Optional: To get an enhanced view of the Runtime settings, in the top-right corner of the XML editor, click the Maximize editor icon.
  5. Modify Runtime settings, as needed.
For example: Select the Robot Manager repository as your automation package storage by changing the value of the UseRobotManagerPackageRepository setting to true:
    Editing Pega Robot Runtime settings
Use the XML-aware editor to modify Pega Robot Runtime settings, as
                                needed.
Tip: To quickly find the settings that you want to edit, open the search bar by placing the mouse cursor inside the XML editor and pressing CTRL + F.
  6. After you finish updating Runtime settings, click Validate to check for syntax correctness.
If the XML syntax is valid, Robot Manager displays the No errors found message at the top of the XML editor. If an error message is displayed, the message explains the type of problem and points to the line where the problem exists, for example:
A syntax validation error in the Runtime configuration file editor
If syntax validation fails, Robot Manager displays an error message
and points to the line in which the error occurs.
  7. If the XML syntax is invalid, perform the following actions:
    1. Address all errors.
    2. Repeat step 6 to ensure that Robot Manager displays the No errors found message.
  8. Confirm your edits by clicking Save.
  9. In the Save changes window, enter a meaningful description of your edits, and then click Submit.
Result: You updated the Runtime configuration file. If you already assigned this file to an entity, the assignees automatically download the new version the next time they register with Robot Manager. In addition, you can view your edits to the Runtime configuration file on the History tab, for example:
Viewing Runtime configuration file history
When you create a new Runtime configuration file version, that version is
                        recorded on the History tab.
What to do next: For your configurations to run, assign the file to an entity in your organization, for example, a robot, department, work group, application, and so on. For more information, see Assigning configuration files.
