Creating custom access groups for Pega Robot Manager users

Updated on December 20, 2022

Define sets of permissions that match your business requirements by creating additional access groups or modifying existing groups.

As a system administrator, you can quickly and conveniently add a new application-specific set of permissions by creating a copy of an existing access group, and modifying that copy to suit your needs. You can also add or remove access roles from existing access groups to extend or restrict access privileges, as required.

For example, you can create an access group to grant users access to view, edit, create, and delete reports in Pega Robot Manager, and to restrict access to other functionalities.

  1. In the navigation pane of Dev Studio, select RecordsSecurityAccess Group.
  2. From the access group list, select an existing access group.
For example: <Application_Name>: UserAdmin, as shown in the following figure:
Selecting an existing Pega Robot Manager access group
Add a new access group by modifying an existing one and saving it as a separate record
  3. In the top-right corner of the access group form, select SaveSave as.
  4. Provide a name and description for the new access group.
    For example:

  5. Click Create and open.
  6. On the Edit Access Group form, in the Available portals section, specify which portals a user can access:
    • To add a portal, click Add portal and select a portal from the list.
    • To remove a portal, click the Delete icon next to the portal that you want to remove.
For example: To grant user access to the Pega Robot Manager portal only, remove all portals from the list, except for pyRobotManager.
  7. In the Available roles section, add or delete a role, depending on your business needs:
    • To add a role, click Add role and then select a role from the list.
    • To remove a role, click the Delete icon next to the role that you want to remove.
For example: To grant users access rights to view, edit, create, and delete reports in the Pega Robot Manager portal, add the PegaRobotManager:ReportAdmin access role. For more information, see Default access roles.
See the following figure for reference:

Adjusting the access group settings to provide users with access to the Pega Robot Manager portal together with the appropriate access privileges
  8. Confirm your settings by clicking Save.
Result: You created an access group for Pega Robot Manager users. That access group is now available for selection when you add users in the Pega Robot Manager portal, as shown in the following example:

When the system administrator creates a new access group, you can select it for new users in the Pega Robot Manager portal
