Updating configuration files locally

Updated on February 10, 2022

Edit robot settings in your preferred third-party XML editor, or reuse robot configurations in the context of a different application by downloading, modifying, and uploading the Runtime configuration files.

Downloading configuration files

Download Runtime configuration files from Pega Robot Manager to store them as a backup solution, or to modify them locally for a later upload.

  1. In the navigation pane of Pega Robot Manager, click SettingsRuntime configs.
  2. Click the file that you want to download.
  3. Click ActionsDownload XML.
Result: Robot Manager saves the file in a local directory.
What to do next: You can now edit the file in an XML editor of your choice, or upload the file to another application, depending on your business needs.

Uploading configuration files

Create new instances of Robot Runtime settings in Robot Manager by uploading an XML file from a local directory.

  1. In the navigation pane of Pega Robot Manager, click SettingsRuntime configs.
  2. Click Upload new.
  3. In the New runtime config settings window, provide the file details.
    For example:

To upload a new configuration file, you must provide the file name, file description, and the location of the file in your local directory.
  4. Click Choose File, and then select an XML file.
  5. Confirm your settings by clicking Create.
What to do next: Assign the file to an entity in your application. For more information, see Assigning configuration files.

Replacing configuration files

Create a new version of a Runtime configuration file in Robot Manager by uploading an XML file from a local directory.

  1. In the navigation pane of Pega Robot Manager, click SettingsRuntime configs.
  2. Click the file that you want to update.
  3. Click ActionsReplace XML.
  4. In the Replace XML content window, click Choose file, and then select a file from your directory.
  5. Confirm your settings by clicking Submit.
Result: Robot Manager creates a new Runtime configuration file version based on the new settings and identifies the new version as the current version, as shown in the following figure:

When you upload a new version of a Runtime configuration file, Robot Manager displays that version on the History tab.
