Overview of creating a project

Updated on November 10, 2021

A project in Pega Robot Studio is the container for your automations, applications, and forms.

Your first step in creating an automation is to create a project. A project can contain multiple automations, or just one. There are two options for creating a project.

Options for creating a project

OptionDescription
Create newLets you name your project and location, and then creates a Globals section and an empty automation.
Quick startUses a wizard to step you through naming your project, adding an application, launching the Recording Assistant, and then creating an automation by recording tasks that you perform in the associated application.

Using Quick start simplifies the automation process for a new user, while Create New gives more control and flexibility for experienced users.

  • Creating a project with the Create New option

You can create a project by using the Create new option to specify a name and location for your project. Robot Studio then creates a Globals section and an empty automation.

  • Creating a project with Quick Start

Quick Start makes it easy to create a project, with an easy wizard interface. Projects are the containers for your solutions, storing applications, automations, forms, text adapters, and items from existing projects.
