Adding a control to an existing automation

Updated on October 19, 2022

You can add or insert a control from the Toolbox or Palette to your existing automation. Within the Automation Surface, place the control on an execution or gray line between objects to automatically create links.

Note: You can only insert a control using this method on an execution pointer (a gray line) and not on a data pointer (a blue line).

  1. In the Toolbox or Palette on the left, find the control you want to insert between two design blocks.
You can use the Search box to find a control.
  2. Click and drag the control to the pointer line.Result: The pointer line changes to green when the control is on the line, as shown in the following figure:

Automation surface with pointer line between design blocks displayed as green to indicate placement of new block.
  3. With the line showing as green, release the mouse button.
  4. For the new control, define any required values and click Submit.Result: The control is inserted between the existing controls.
