Defining the application ID for credential retrieval

Updated on October 19, 2022

Define an application ID to access credentials from CyberArk.

CyberArk allows you to secure application IDs. You can use either path authentication or hash authentication to restrict access to the Robot Runtime applications that should use the application ID, or you can provide a list of allowed computers.

To define an application ID, perform the following steps:

  1. Log in to the Password Vault Web Access application as a user who has Manage Users authorization and who is allowed to manage applications.
  2. Cllick the Applications tab.
  3. Click Add Applications.
  4. In the Add Applications dialog box, in the Name field, enter the name of this application.
  5. In the Description field, enter a description of this application.
  6. In the Business Owner section, enter the contact information for the applications business owner.
  7. In the Location section, specify the location of the application in the Vault hierarchy. If you do not specify a location, the system adds the application in the same Location as the user who is creating this application.
  8. Click Add.
  9. In the Application Details dialog box, select the Allowing extended authentication restrictions checkbox. This setting allows you to specify an unlimited number of computers and Windows domain OS users for a single application.
  10. Set the Authentication and Allowed Machines fields for the application. For more information, see the CyberArk Privileged Access Security Implementation Guide.
