Installing Pega Browser Extension by using the Setup wizard

Updated on October 19, 2022

To create or run automations that automate applications that run in the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer browsers, install the Pega Browser Extension (PBE) component.

The following instructions are for a stand-alone install or update of PBE. If you are installing PBE as part of a Robot Studio or Robot Runtime install, begin with step 5.

Note: For best results, install the system from a local drive, not a mapped drive.

  1. Go to My Software and download the Robot Runtime setup file. For more information, see Downloading Pega Robotic Automation software.
  2. Extract the setup file into a temporary folder, and then locate the PegaBrowserExtensionSetup.exe file.
  3. Ensure that the PegaBrowserExtensionSetup.exe file is in the installation folder for Robot Runtime or Robot Studio, depending on which application you use.
  4. Right-click the PegaBrowserExtensionSetup.exe file, and then select Run as Administrator.
  5. In the Welcome page, click Next.
  6. In the License agreement page, read the license, click Accept, and then click Next.
  7. In the Select installation folder page, browse to the folder in which to install, or accept the default installation folder. Then click Next.
  8. In the Browser extensions page, select the browsers that you will automate and indicate if you will use Group Policy to enable the extensions. Then click Next.
  9. In the Begin installation of Pega Browser Extension page, click Install. Result: A dialog box shows the installation progress.
  10. After the installation finishes, click Finish.
Result: Pega Browser Extension (PBE) is now installed. What to do next: If this computer is part of a domain network, ask your system administrator to update group policy to enable the extension for the browser. For more information, see Using Microsoft Group Policy to control Chrome policies or Using Microsoft Group Policy to control Edge policies.
