Adding a Pega virtual channel to the allow list

Updated on May 25, 2023

Ensure that there are no communication disruptions by adding a Pega virtual channel to the list of allowed settings. To use Robot Runtime in a Citrix environment, you must add it to the virtual channel allow list.

Before you begin

The virtual channel allows communication between the server and client runtime. The Citrix Virtual channel allow list feature is enabled by default, so that only Citrix virtual channels are allowed to open in virtual apps and desktops sessions. Beginning with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops 7 2109, Citrix enables the virtual channel allow lists by default. On the Citrix server, Pega.Loader is the published application, and Robot Runtime is the application that runs and communicates as the virtual channel.

  1. In Citrix, navigate to the Virtual channel allow list policy setting.
  2. Enter the name of the virtual channel followed by a comma, and then the path to OpenSpan.Runtime.exe.
The following code shows an example custom virtual channel policy:
    CTXOPSP,C:\Program Files (x86)\Pegasystems\Pega Robot Studio\OpenSpan.Runtime.exe,C:\Program Files (x86)\Pegasystems\Pega Robot Studio Plug-In\OpenSpan.Runtime.exe,C:\Program Files (x86)\Pegasystems\Pega Robot Runtime\OpenSpan.Runtime.exe,C:\Program Files (x86)\Pegasystems\Pega Robot Runtime\cache\*\OpenSpan.Runtime.exe
Note: For more information, see the Citrix documentation on adding virtual channels to the allow list.
