Return authorization case type business rules

Updated on September 10, 2021

The Return authorization case provides a dealer with shipping instructions, part tags, and shipping labels that are prepopulated with a shipping address. There is a return authorization for each part number that needs to be returned per request, and the Service Level Agreement (SLA) on the authorization ensures that the parts are returned to the manufacturer in a timely manner. Once the part is received at the manufacturer's parts return center, the return authorization is updated to indicate the dealer liability.

The Return authorization case is a subcase of the Return material case type, which is a subcase of the Parts return request case type.

The following business rules are associated with the Return authorization case:

  • If the Parts return work object contains a single part, a single return authorization is created.
  • If the Parts return work object contains two different parts, and the CreateMultipleRAs flag value is set to true, then two return authorizations are created. Otherwise, single return authorizations are created for all parts.
  • If the Parts return program contains two parts in its response and is completed, two return authorization cases are created. They are placed in two separate return material cases under the Parts return request.
  • If the Parts return program has the Inspection check box selected, an inspection work object is created in the return material case for the return authorization work object.
