Simplified section property panels in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

When you edit sections in Pega Express, the sections display a simplified properties panel. This panel presents the essential section properties in an intuitive way to streamline the editing process. To access this properties panel in Pega Express, click the Pencil icon next to an editable object. For more information, see Runtime editing of sections in Pega Express.

Full support for Unicode characters in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.3

Pega® Express now supports Unicode characters when you name properties, case types, and data types. Languages that use multibyte characters, such as Japanese and Hindi, are now fully supported. An administrator can enable Unicode support for Pega Express by configuring a Dynamic System Setting in Designer Studio.

For more information, see Enabling Unicode character support for object names.

Email configuration and management available in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

You can now configure and manage email accounts directly in Pega® Express. You no longer have to switch from Pega Express to Designer Studio to perform email account-related tasks.

For more information, see Creating an email account.

Specify styles at run time in Pega Express

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

At run time in Pega® Express, you can now apply styling to many controls. Styling options vary from one control to another. For example, when you style a Dropdown control, you can specify text color, background fill and color, and border width and color. When you style controls directly in Pega Express, rather than switching to Designer Studio to modify the application skin, you can save development time.

For more information, see Styling controls at run time in Pega Express.

New data tables are non-Pega formatted

Valid from Pega Version 7.4

All new data tables are created as non-Pega formatted tables, that is, they do not contain a BLOB column, a pzInsKey column, or a pxObjClass column. The table's primary key will be the key that you specify, not pzInsKey. Data table construction was changed to improve performance of the Obj-Save method during batch operations, such as data imports, to make it easier to replace the table with an external system of record and to make it easier to share data among applications.

Pega unit test suites are now modular

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

It is now possible to include test cases and test suites inside test suites. This feature makes test suites modular and improves the management of cases while creating, modifying, and executing them for regression testing.

For more information, see Pega unit test suites.

Archival support added to cases in Pega Cloud

Valid from Pega Version 8.1

You can now create an archival policy to move inactive cases from Pega Cloud to secondary storage. By periodically purging entries from your database, you can improve application performance.

For more information, see Case archiving.

Use Kerberos credentials in a Pega application to authenticate and access external systems

Valid from Pega Version 7.2.2

Authentication services now support Kerberos as an authentication type. When you connect from the Pega 7 Platform to external systems and services that require Kerberos authentication, the Pega 7 Platform stores the user Kerberos credentials and makes them available in Pega 7 Platform connectors.

For more information, see Using Kerberos credentials in a Pega application to authenticate and access external systems.
