DSS added to handle merges with lower versions of Postgres

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7.1

After update, executing the batch campaign with volume constraint resulted in the second data flow DF_Wait failing with error message "ERROR: number of columns (1844) exceeds limit (1664)". This was due to the database set’s change (in 8.5) to use the database layer’s merge statement. Prior to that, the logic used "deletes and inserts". Depending on the version of Postsgres, the generated SQL statement for a merge statement is different. The “INSERT … ON CONFLICT … UPDATE” syntax is generated for Postgres 9.5+ AND when there is a PK constraint defined for the DB table. Otherwise, the complex UPSERT statement (old syntax) is generated, as was the case in this issue. This is a known issue in the Postgres server software where it mis-interprets the number of columns involved. i.e., it mistakenly counts the number of columns twice. As a result, the actual maximum columns allowed is only half of the official limit (1664). The same UPSERT statement does not cause the “exceeds limit” exception if there are 832 or fewer columns in the statement. To resolve this, an option has been provided to select between the “original logic” (deletes and inserts) and the “merge statements” logic by way of the DSS “decision/datasets/db/useMergeStatementForUpdates”. Setting “true” will use the merge statement logic, and setting “false” will use deletes and inserts. When the DSS is not defined, the default is "true" and the system will use merge statements in the form preferred by Postgres 9.5+.

Added busy state reset to reenable buttons after custom frame cancel

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

When using a custom iFrame in a section that called a third-party URL, clicking on cancel for the popup "Do you want to stay on this page or leave it?" caused the screen to freeze. This was traced to the cancellation of the dirty page setting a busy state which disabled all the buttons and did not have a path to recovery. This has been resolved by updating the busy state so it will reset when the user chooses to cancel the changes and reenable all the buttons.

Client side validation works with Reference page property

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

A reference page property in a 'when' rule was not evaluating properly for checking a Date field when client side validation or Client side template UI was checked on the Harness level. This was traced to pyRequired being boolean: the boolean being compared to a string false value yielded a wrong comparison, leading to the wrong validation type required. To resolve this, the system will use the === comparator to compare boolean false in datetime to remove the required validator.

Email listener update for Microsoft Exchange server

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

After upgrade, TooManyObjectsOpenedException/MapiExceptionSessionLimit errors were seen when starting the email listener. Investigation showed that when the listener was started, two sessions were getting opened and then not closed properly. This was a method originally intended to allow the system to re-use the session to minimize performance overhead, but it is not well-suited for use with Microsoft Exchange server as the Exchange server is unable to cleanup idle sessions. As a result, too many MAPI sessions were opened and led to an authentication exception while opening additional sessions. To resolve this, an update has been made so the system will close the session while the listener sleeps. This stop, restart and graceful shutdown scenario for single threaded email listener scenarios will create a new session every time and close it properly.

Fallback added for calculating date after upgrade

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

After upgrade, the date value returned from Stored procedure failed to be mapped to "date" type property. Stored Procedure was used to get data from an external Oracle database and then handed to a Data Transform to map the values. When the Data was fetched from the store procedure, the date properties were mapping correctly, but when these values were mapped from the clipboard into the usecase using a Data Transform, the data for date properties was becoming corrupted. This was traced to logic differences between the versions: 8.2 generated resolveToDate while in 8.5 generates resolveToBigDecimal. In this case, resolve to big decimal was being called with aType='D' and aValue=20200918, and the 20200918 number was being interpreted as days since 1 Jan 1970 instead of as a date. This has been resolved by adding a fallback for the date calculation.

Case creation service activity unauthorized response modified

Resolved in Pega Version 8.3.1

When unauthorized users accessed the URL for creating a case, a blank screen appeared instead of the user being routed to a login screen. This was due to the system returning an HTTP 400 error instead of HTTP 401 response, and was traced to the introduction of an anonymous user type in the authentication activity (Authentication service in the service package). Case creation REST service uses pzCreateCase activity to create the cases, but before introducing the anonymous user type it was exiting from the authentication activity and did not call pzCreateCase. This was traced to the error handling relying on a field value to be in English when instead the site had localized the value, causing a mismatch which did not generate the necessary failed status. To avoid this, the system will now use the new pxStatusFlowSecurity process engine status instead of relying on a text match to determine this error.

Unneeded AUC error percentage calculation removed for better system performance

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

When generating snapshots of the ADM models, an inefficiency in the metric calculation for the AUC error percentage caused an excessive amount of memory to be allocated which could cause slowdown or require a system reboot. This has been resolved by removing the problematic AUC error percentage calculation as it is not used in the UI.

Added JSoup handling for older Microsoft Outlook versions

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7.1

Logging indicated that some emails were generating the error "pyextractlatestreplyfromhtml is resulting in java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Object must not be null." This occurred when using an older version of Microsoft Outlook, and has been resolved by adding a check before removing the JSoup doc object.

Application quality page retains info on reopen

Resolved in Pega Version 8.3.1

When the application quality page was accessed for the first time the page displayed all the data properly, but if it was closed and then opened again all the counts were blank. This was traced to an issue with converting the date from the client to the database, and was seen when the Oracle database had date filed as key and type date. The issue did not occur if the type was varchar2. To resolve this, the system will use obj-open-by-handle instead of obj-open while fetching the details of AQD.

Resolved finish assignment screen freeze

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7.1

In some assignments of several flows, when the processing was done (finish assignment) the screen only displayed the loading logo. The only way to proceed was by refreshing the browser. The browser console showed the error "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'undefined') at setTargetValuesSuccess (expression_calculation_1480665478.js!!.js:1) at k". The error did not occur when using Live UI privileges. This has been resolved by updating the expression calculation.
