Updated Tracer for cluster events

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

When running the tracer from the Admin Studio Listener management landing page, Tracer was always fetching data from one node only even though events were generated on another node. This was due to the specific node where the Listener was running being passed to the concern activity while launching the tracer; the Tracer Client node did not have data to check if the event was being populated on another node, and the result was to always fetch data from one node only even though events were generated on another node. To resolve this, the web node ID where the event is running will be passed.

Application wizard security updated

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

A user having PegaRULES:User1 role only was able to run the Create Application wizard until an authorization block was reached, yet some rules were created. No operator records were created as part of this process. This was traced to code left in place after the creation of pxAppConfig and pzAppConfig portals, and has been resolved. The New Application wizard UI will display a message to a user when they lack access to build a new application, and an error will be displayed for any attempt to create a new application directly via pzCreateNewApplication to address a scenario where a user might be trying to call the activity without the front end.

Added debug logging and exception recovery for unexpected data object

Resolved in Pega Version 8.6.3

When rules were complied in lower environment and deployed into production, they later became corrupted and system behavior changed. The error "Java generation failed: caught exception while expanding property pyGetCasePredictionsByClassName on page CurrentRecord" was generated. Investigation showed the auto-populate property pyGetCasePredictionsByClassName was attempting to get the metadata property "pzDataObjectParams": this was a string value in this scenario instead of the expected java object, and caused the exception. To resolve this, a debugger has been added which will check if the property is a java object or not. If it is not, the system will skip the processing and then display an error message with a stack trace.

Corrected report definition save-as-image option

Resolved in Pega Version 8.6.3

Attempting to save a report definition as an image resulted in an access denied error stating "Browser fingerprint validation failed : A request was received with an invalid or missing browser fingerprint. The request was denied", and the user session was closed. The security SECU0017 alert is generated when a request is sent to a Pega application and the browser fingerprint is either missing or does not match the expected value. The system tries to check the type of request for every requestor ID and fetch the CSRF token, but in this case it was not matching with the token present on the requestor thread. This has been resolved by adding scripts to send the hidden input value needed.

Handling added for multi-file upload of duplicated files

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7

Attaching the same file multiple times during a single upload caused some of the duplicated files to not be included. The issue was not seen when attaching the same file multiple times but in different attempts. The exception "Can't continue with file attachment. FileData.xlsx is missing and might have been quarantined by anti-malware software" was logged. This was caused by the files being uploaded without updating filenames to have a unique ID, so multiple files with the same name were overwriting the previous file. This has been resolved by setting the appendUniqueIdToFileName parameter to true in the upload request so each copy of the filename is treated as an individual file.

JAWS announces popup error message

Resolved in Pega Version 8.5.2

When a form is submitted without giving value to required field, a browser pop up appears. The expected behavior is that the screen reader (JAWS) should move the focus to the field that has error and read the error message However, JAWS was not announcing the error "Value cannot be blank". This was traced to a scenario where if pega.u.d.fieldErrorType === "ERRORTEXT" is true, the class on the span within the error div will be set to "inputSpans", and this resulted in the return of an empty array for document.querySelectorAll("span.iconError.dynamic-icon-error"). To resolve this, support has been added for the "inputSpans" class.

Export to Excel works for for report definition with duplicate columns

Resolved in Pega Version 8.3.2

After adding a date column to a report definition (2nd column in the report), the data displayed correctly in the UI but Export to Excel failed with the error "Section 'pzRDExportWrapper' execution error on page '' of class 'Rule-Obj-Report-Definition'. : The Reference .pyDateValue(2) is not valid." This was traced to an out of bounds exception thrown if there were two or more columns with the same calculation. When preparing for export, the column with the duplicate calculation would not get added to the map of report UI fields. To resolve this, the system has been updated to allow report definition columns with the same calculation to be properly mapped to a UI field.

Stricter criteria set for reusing an SSAExecutionContext

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7

After a Strategy was configured with an existing Proposition Filter and the Explain Results box was unchecked, executing the strategy resulted in the error "Stack is empty, cannot pop any more frames". Investigation showed that the SSAExecutionContext object was reused across the two criteria evaluation in Proposition Filter rule: this works well as long as the input is the same across the two evaluations. However, the SSAExecutionContext object also stashed a reference to a PublicAPI object which became stale in the second evaluation and caused the empty stack issue for the given scenario. This has been resolved by providing stricter criteria in deciding when an SSAExecutionContext can be reused or not in the case of Proposition Filter rule.

Guided Tour working from Actions menu

Resolved in Pega Version 8.7

After updating from Pega 8.4 to Pega 8.5, "Manage a Guided Tour" was no longer working under a local action when called from the Actions menu on a work object. An unspecified error message appeared in the tracer. Investigation showed there was a null pointer error caused by the menu being invoked on an invalid page, and this was traced to updated authentication requirements: registration at the portal is not reliable as it is thread-scoped and run only once. The thread name is not guaranteed to stay the same so subsequent invocations of the tour activities failed. This has been resolved by modifying the call registration function to handle the security issues related to the generation of the menu path.
