About EJB connector rules

Updated on August 16, 2022

Use Connect EJB rules to define and configure a connector to an Enterprise JavaBean on a local or remote system. The services are deployed as Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) within a Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application server, such as IBM's WebSphere or Oracle WebLogic.

Note: Beginning in Pega Platform 8.6, EAR deployments of Pega Platform are deprecated. In the upcoming 8.7 release, EAR deployments will not be supported. As a result, in Pega Platform 8.7, Connect EJB rules will also no longer be supported. For more information on the alternatives for EAR-related rules, see Deprecation of EAR deployments in Pega Platform 8.6.

The following tabs are available on this form:

  • Service
  • Create
  • Remote

Access

To list the Connect EJB rules in your application, use the Application Explorer or click ConfigureIntegrationConnector Definitions & Simulations.

To list all Connect EJB rules that are available to you, use the Records Explorer.

Development

You can use a wizard to generate classes, properties, and Connect EJB rules, rather than creating them one by one through rule forms. To use the wizard, select ConfigureIntegrationConnectors Connector and Metadata wizard .

At runtime, the system locates the local or remote services and connects to them using the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI) protocol.

To debug your application, you can simulate an EJB connector when the external system is unavailable or lacks a test environment.

Where referenced

Connect EJB rules can be referenced in an Integrator shape of a flow rule.

Note: As of Pega 7.1.8, this rule is deprecated for data pages. Existing data pages that reference the rule will still work, but you cannot reference it when you create or edit a data page.

Category

A Connect EJB rule is an instance of the Rule-Connect-EJB class. Connect EJB rules belong to the Integration-Connectors category.
