Completing the Specifications tab

Updated on August 10, 2022

Complete the fields on this tab to create a link between a specification and this collection. Rules that are linked to a specification are implementations.

You can view implementations on the Specifications tab of the Application Profile landing page or the Implementations tab of the Specification form. Specifications and their linked implementations can be included in documents generated by the Document Application tool.

Linking a specification to a collection

The list of linked specifications is displayed in a table format. Each row represents an association between a specification and a step in the collection or the collection itself.

The table supports many-to-many relationships. Each specification can link to more than one step and each step can have more than one linked specification.

  1. Ensure that the collection is checked out or in an unlocked ruleset.

  2. Click the add icon to append a specification to the list.

  3. Enter a specification name in the Name field or use the autocomplete to prompt you with a list of names.

  4. Select a step description from the Collection step drop-down list.

Alternatively, keep the default value N/A to indicate that the specification is linked to the collection rule itself.

  5. Click Save.

You can click any specification name to open it. The full set of linked implementations is available on the Implementations tab of the Specification form.

Click the delete icon to remove a specification from the list.

Automatic link management

During application development, you can delete steps in a collection and modify step descriptions. You can withdraw or delete specifications.

In all of these cases, the Specifications tab of the Collection form stays in sync. Labels in the Collection step field are automatically refreshed and links to invalid steps are removed from the table.

If a collection step does not specify a value in the Step Description field, the step label is used to populate the Collection step field.
