Managing data series in insights
Increase the readability of chart-based insights by customizing visualization options of data series. For example, in a banking application, you can manage your insight to include two distinct charts that illustrate differences between income and expenditure.
- In the navigation pane of your application, click Explore Data.
- In the Insights section, in the Name column, click the insight that you want to modify.
- In the upper-right corner of the insight, click Edit.
- On the CHART tab, manage charts for specific data
series:
Choices Actions Change the chart type - In the Series section, next to the specific data series whose chart you want to update, click .
- In the Edit chart type list, select a chart type for the series.
Manage markers of data points - In the Series section, next to the specific data series whose chart you want to update, click .
- In the Edit markers list, select the shape of markers for the data points.
- In the Size list, select the proportions of the markers.
Show labels with values - In the Series section, next to the specific data series whose chart you want to update, click .
- In the Edit data values labels dialog box, select the Show data values check box.
- Optional: To select the location of labels in the chart, in the Label position list, select the location of the labels.
- Optional: To display labels in the chart horizontally, select the Use horizontal labels check box.
- If you want to manage labels of the donut chart, perform the following
actions:
- In the Value label position list, select the location of labels with values.
- In the Percentage position list, select the location of labels that indicate percentage of data distribution.
- In the Category label position list, select the location of labels with names of data categories.
- In the upper-right corner of the insight, save changes by clicking Save insight.

Maximize the informative value of your chart-based insights by including supplementary elements that highlight the most meaningful data.
- Color-coding the appearance of data series
Enhance data analysis by bringing essential data series into focus. For example, in the insight that presents monthly sales, you can color columns with values that are higher than a specified value to make that data stand out.
