Reuse and Version Management

Updated on July 15, 2020

Pega Platform™ supports reuse and sharing of rules through a range of features that affect rule resolution. Rule resolution chooses what version of a rule to use in a given circumstance. Rule resolution lets changes to rules affect all appropriate parts of the application at the same time. Rule reuse helps to reduce the number of rules you must build, test, and maintain.

Rule reuse also supports uniform procedures, terminology, and calculations throughout application development, so both application designers and end-users have a consistent and positive experience working with the application. Version management refers to a series of processes and tools that help simplify and clarify the structure of an application. Pega Platform provides straightforward methods for compressing, merging, copying, renaming, and deleting RuleSets; and provides a version numbering standard so that the whole team knows the significance of major, minor, and patch RuleSet Versions.
