Enabling a user to perform other users' assignments

Updated on March 15, 2022

Access Manager makes it easy to authorize users to perform work on other users' assignments of a particular case type. Pega Platform includes predefined Access When rules (conditions) that take into account the operator's organization and extend authorizations based on organizational structure. For example, you can enable an operator to work on a case assigned to any other operator in an organization, or assigned to a manager in the organization.

An operator may not perform an action in Pega Platform unless explicitly granted authorization by a privilege. (Some standard roles are delivered with privileges assigned.) Access Manager lets you assign a predefined Access When condition to a user in an access group specifically for assignments of a particular case type. For assignments, case types derive from the Work- class.

In Access Manager, you set authorizations for assignments by modifying the Perform row for a given case type and role. This adds a Perform privilege to the role for cases of that class (the case type you are authorizing). Operators in the access group are also granted the privilege. You can grant access based on a standard Access When condition.
