Separate operators may update cover work object and covered work object

Updated on September 13, 2021

Summary

A developer asks: We have cover objects X, which have covered objects Y's.  For the most part in the last phase of the processing, the X's and Y's are moving from assignment to assignment to the same users. But in the current phase of the processing, we need a separate type of covered object, Z, to be in another user's worklist, while the X cover is in another part of the process downstream. Can this be implemented?

Suggested Approach

Yes, you are able to have different people work on the cover and covered objects.  A setting lets you specify whether the cover item should be locked while you're working on the covered items. See Upgrade to Advanced Lock Mgmt. Set that to specify that the cover work object does not get locked when someone is working on the covered objects.
