skilled nursing care

Skilled nursing care is intensive care that is usually required around the clock and rendered by, or under the supervision of, a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. It is provided only when prescribed by a doctor and usually on an inpatient basis at a hospital or skilled nursing facility. Skilled nursing care can include the administration of medications, tube feeding, changing of wound dressings, and some types of minor surgery.
