Medicaid

Medicaid provides free or low-cost health coverage to millions of Americans, including some low-income people, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The program is run jointly by federal and state governments. Details vary between states.

With the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Medicaid covers everyone with incomes under 133 percent of the federal poverty level who does not qualify for Medicare.
